Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. - Psalm 119:105

Worship

Do You Know What Worship Is?

Worship is a covenant and call from our Lord to come before Him and meet with Him with reverence, gladness, and joy.

It is a call to know Him intimately and express appreciation to Him with praise and thanksgiving, doing so with passion, sincerity, conviction, and in reverent fear and trembling. Worship is the aptitude, attitude, and practice of expressing the desire to know our Lord and Savior further, and being grateful for Who He Is and what He has done for us. Worship is the giving of our best to Him. And, we do this because we are His; we give Him our heart that is already His. He has given His best to us already; in addition, we are enveloped into His eternal love and care for pure and useful purposes.

When the average Christian thinks about worship, he tends to think about music or how a service is planed out. Perhaps a favorite hymn comes to mind or a praise song that captivated him or her in some moving response. This is sad so to speak, for music, as wonderful and impacting as it can be, is not worship. It is an expression of worship, but it is not worship. Worship is the attitude of our hearts in gratefulness for who our Lord Jesus Christ is and what He has done for you and me, and our commitment to express it with an attitude of gratitude in our daily lives. And, of course, we can use music to do this; however, true worship is meeting with Him, our heart pouring out to His.

Bible passages on knowing about worship: Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 50; Psalm 65:13; 79:13; 95:6-7; 100; 150; Matthew 4:10; 2:2,11; 14:33; John 4:23; 9:35-38; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:6; Revelation 4

What is Worship?

What is Worship? Part I Worship is a call to know Christ intimately and express appreciation to Him with praise and thanksgiving, doing so with passion, sincerity, conviction, and in reverent fear and trembling. Worship is the aptitude, attitude, and practice of expressing the desire to know our Lord and Savior further, and being grateful for Who He Is and what He has done for us. Impacting Worship!

What is Worship? Part II Are you being impacted by Christ or just your ideas of praise and worship? Impacting worship simply means that God is impacting you and you are letting Him know so, so He can continue to impact you and others around you. We are an offering to Him, an acknowledgment of His sovereignty and Lordship over our personal lives and over us as a church. It is experiencing His greatness come upon us and our response of praise that enables us to see Him for who He is and what He has done. In so doing, we can...

What is Worship? Part III What is the difference between worship and praise? Worship is our act of awe and attitude, our official reverence, respect, and thanksgiving with our humbleness and adoration. So, with worship, we give our admiration and honor; in so doing, we give our love and our respect to our Most High Lord God. Praise is more about our physical and practical outpouring, where...

God's Pattern for Worship

The History of 'Doing Church' through the centuries. Have you ever wondered why do we do Church the way we do? One of the topics for which we receive requests for information is why we do church worship services the way we do. Why can't I just do what I feel is best, or find out what my people and neighborhood would want and do that? Is there a reason behind our traditions? Or, is it just meaningless rhetoric we repeat over and over, year after year, century after century. Well, there is a reason we do church the way most practice it today. There are essential patterns, rooted in the Old Testament, that God requires...

The Essentials to Worship God

Worship will be the central aspect of Heaven. Thus, it must be the central aspect of doing church, and of each Christian's life! Our understanding of what a church worship service is must reflect the precepts of Scripture. This includes our influence, and the format of our worship services.

What Can We Give God?

Are you so caught up in the events and planning of Christmas that you have forgotten the "Christ" and the "mass," which means we are to worship and venerate Him? Most of us do forget, perhaps not intentionally, because of all our busyness and neglect. We look with anticipation to the gifts, music, decorations, food, family gatherings and such, and for some, this means Christ is the One who is left out as He stands and knocks. As an ironic iconoclast, we feast and honor Christ while He is left outside in the cold (Rev. 3:20).

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations (Psalm 100).

Our Pattern for Worship

As a community of believers apart of the universal Church, and the bride of Christ, we are to follow the pattern that the Bible lays out. And, it should be the same through all denominations that acknowledge Christ as LORD.

Advent Bible Verses

The Meaning of Advent, "Advent" simply means coming as in Christ is coming, and for us now He has arrived. This is referring to His birth in history and in humanity.

Prayer as Worship

You can also Worship God through Prayer!

Heartfelt Devotion

Is heartfelt Devotion working in you? Are you an offering to God (Psalm 1:2; Isa. 26:3)? Has the Christian faith impacted all of you, who you are as well as what you do?

Reverence

Are you reverent, is this relevant? Reverence is an aspect of adoration, it is the true response that leads to worship to all that come before God.

Gratitude

Gratitude is an attitude of being thankful for what He has done for me! When we fully recognize that our greatest problem has been solved, our indebtedness of sin, we can feel and know gratitude and thus honor God, by leading a life of response to Who and what He has done!

A call for Reformation for Christian Music

Those of us who are privileged to represent our Lord Jesus Christ in the arts should be galvanized by mission, not by ambition; by mandate, not by accolades; by love for the Master, not by the allurements of this world.
